Hair Colour Advice

All of our hair colours are fully assessed for toxicological safety by a qualified safety assessor before being placed on the market. However, as with all other brands of hair colour in rare cases an allergic reaction may occur. Reactions range in severity and in extreme cases can be very serious and require immediate medical attention. You must ensure that you read and follow the instructions on the box & leaflet carefully before each and every use.

  • You have a rash on your face or sensitive, irritated and damaged scalp
  • You have ever experienced any reaction after colouring your hair
  • You have experienced a reaction to a temporary “black henna” tattoo in the past.

Hair colourants can cause severe allergic reactions.

Temporary “black henna” tattoos may increase your risk of allergy. See Black Henna tattoo dangers

Always read the safety instructions and follow the directions for use carefully.

IMPORTANT: This product is not intended for use on persons under the age of 16.

Please retain the box for 7 days after use in case of query. ALWAYS conduct a skin allergy test 48 hours before every time you colour, even if you have used this or other colouring products before. So remember to buy the product 48 hours in advance.

Skin Allergy Test

  • Clean well about 1 cm of the inner fold of the elbow.
  • Unscrew the caps of both the colour cream tube and developer/applicator bottle (puncture the membrane on the colour cream tube with the back of the cap). Mix several drops of the developer with the same quantity of the colour cream in a separate non-metal container. Tightly recap both containers.
  • Apply the mixture on the chosen area with a cotton bud.
  • Re-apply two or three times allowing it to dry on each occasion.
  • Do not wash the coated area for 48 hours after which, if you do not notice any itching or reddening you can use the product.
  • Do not use the hair colour if any skin irritations like reddening or itching emerges.
  • Should a reaction such as stinging, a rash or a burning sensation occur during the sensitivity test rinse immediately with lukewarm water and consult your doctor before using a hair colour in the future.

This test represents an important precaution, however, be aware that even if a skin allergy test has been carried out you may still experience an allergic reaction when you colour your hair. The skin allergy test is not a guarantee of avoiding future allergic reactions. Please consult a doctor, if you have any doubts.

What to do if you have a reaction during or after colouring your hair

  • IF DURING COLOURING you experience any stinging or burning and/or rash, rinse immediately and discontinue use as this may be an indication of a more serious reaction. DO NOT colour your hair again before consulting a Doctor or seeking medical advice. If you have a rapidly spreading skin rash, dizziness or faintness, shortness of breath and/or swelling to eyes/face, rinse immediately and SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION i.e. Hospital

IF AFTER COLOURING OR ON THE FOLLOWING DAYS YOU EXPERIENCE problems such as skin or scalp itching, skin or scalp rash, swelling to eyes/face, blistering and/or skin or scalp weeping SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION i.e. Hospital.

Please let us know as soon as you can if you experience an allergic reaction using the Consumer Advisory Service helpline .We will need the product name, shade number and batch number from the box so ensure that you retain the box for 7 days after use in case of query.

Your final colour result and longevity will depend on the current colour and condition of your hair. We recommend a strand test is carried out before colouring to check that you will achieve the desired result.

Grey Coverage

Our colours gives up to 100% grey coverage, however if you have a high percentage of grey hair, use of blonde shades may blend rather than cover grey. For better coverage you should choose a darker shade.
